  A watch that is solid 14 karat white gold that has survived multiple “Gold Melt” periods deserves to be restore. This is an Elgin that was put together in the 1920s, the wrist watch was just starting to become more socially acceptable. The wrist watch really was born somewhere during WW1 (1914-1918)
  
  The date of this watch transports it to 1922, the early genesis of the wristwatch era. Elgin and independent jewelers would harvest ladies pocket watch movements to repurpose them into the “New Wrist Watch”.
  
  This offering is no exception. The difference is this is solid 14 karat white gold, most likely for a customer with a strong financial background to afford a solid gold watch.
  
  Look carefully at the inside case back, it has Elgin, we know this movement was made for this watch. In many cases a Waltham movement would of been fitted to a generic case, the wild Wild West of the early wrist watch. This was standard operating procedure during the early days. This offering can be directly linked to Elgin.
  
  One characteristic of vintage watches are their sizes. They are much smaller than modern watches today. Keep that in mind as you drool over the selection.
